Architectural Digest features the Isle Esme Shooting Location of Breaking Dawn(photos)

Halfway between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, off the BR-101 highway, lies a corner of Brazil bounded by forested mountains that edge their way down to the sea. The Saco do Mamanguá, a tropical fjord, cuts between the mainland and the peninsula of Juatinga, where ridges approaching 1,600 feet frame a narrow bay; this pristine spot is where businessman Ícaro Fernandes, his wife, Cristina, and their five children, ranging in age from three to 24, come to trade life in the urban jungle of São Paulo for waterskiing and dolphin-watching. On weekends, the clan braves São Paulo’s notorious traffic to make the nearly three-hour drive to the colonial town of Paraty, where they hop onto a speedboat for the short ride to their beachfront home.

Fernandes and his family got to know Saco do Mamanguá in 2001, when they visited friends who owned a house in the area, and they eventually decided to buy a 99-acre property on one of the inlet’s loveliest beaches. Fernandes, a real-estate developer who also owns a food-import business, had long admired the work of Brazilian architects Bernardes + Jacobsen, lauded for their imaginative tropical-modern houses. So he called on the firm—now headed by Thiago Bernardes, son of the late Claudio Bernardes and grandson of Sergio Bernardes (1919–2002), and Paulo Jacobsen, partner to all three generations—to design his family’s retreat. “My father and Paulo were constantly researching how to build with natural materials and with an economy of resources—for example, trying to understand how fishermen built their simple wood shelters and how to integrate good natural ventilation into a house,” explains Thiago Bernardes. “That’s the vision Ícaro asked us to incorporate into his home.”

Master's Bedroom

Instead of siting the house on the property’s highest point, as his client imagined, Bernardes suggested placing the nearly 11,000-square-foot building closer to the beach, nestled between two small hills. Bernardes knew cooling breezes would flow naturally through the pass and also clear through the house; this in turn led him to a dramatic layout in which a double-height living area, open to the elements through louvered windows and pivoting glass doors, would spill out onto a deep, shaded veranda extending the full length of the house.

This towering central room neatly divides the interior into three parts. To one side of the space, a kitchen, dining room, and service wing sit below a spacious master suite. On the other, two guest rooms and a family room are beneath the children’s bedrooms; a bridge spans the open living area to connect the family’s sleeping quarters. The combination of skylights overhead and palm and banana trees sprouting from planters set into the floor makes the interior feel like an extension of the outdoors. “Every idea I had in my head about what the house would look like and where it would be located, Thiago said no to,” recalls Fernandes with a laugh. “He didn’t do a single thing I requested. But it turned out ten times better than I ever imagined.”

Tight Security at Raleigh Studio for Filming of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Scene sat down Winston Achee at our office on the lot at Raleigh Studios to discuss the dramatic increases in security measures here. Achee is chief of security for the Celtic Corporation, which owns the studio facility also known as the Celtic Media Centre. Arguably the most high-profile film to ever shoot in Louisiana, part one of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn begins filming today on the lot at Raleigh Studios Baton Rouge at the Celtic Media Centre. It is the first part of the two-installment finale, set to hit theaters on November 18 of next year.

In the weeks leading up to Twilight‘s arrival, Raleigh Studios has been steadily implementing new security measures, including vehicle identification requirements and unique photo badges that authorized personnel must display at all times. But, by far, the most significant change is a 600% increase in the size of the studios own security force.

“We have increased our number of full-time security personnel from six to twenty-four in the last week,” says Achee. “That’s just the beginning of the ramp-up. We’ll be adding two to four more every week.” Rather than hire harmless security guards, these new additions are mostly veterans of Louisiana police forces and sheriff’s departments.

In addition to the direct hires, another twenty man force has been added as well. “So, we’ll have on property at all times a forty-eight man force. We are not taking security on this property lightly,” Achee says.

The high profile project also brings its own high profile security. In addition to the personal body guards employed by stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, the production itself employs additional security. “The security that the production has brought doubles our own force,” says Achee.

A key point that Achee highlighted repeatedly was that, contrary to popular opinion, trespass at Raleigh Studios is not a misdemeanor. ”We have a law on the books, State criminal statute 1462.4. If you get charged with that offense, it’s a felony. This ain’t no misdemeanor.”

That statute of Louisiana’s criminal law states that, “Unauthorized entry of a place of business is the intentional entry by a person without authority into any structure or onto any premises, belonging to another, that is completely enclosed by any type of physical barrier that is at least six feet in height and used in whole or in part as a place of business.” Those convicted of felony trespass on the studio lot are subject to imprisonment at hard labor for up to six years and a fine of up to $1000.

“We will absolutely prosecute every person who trespasses,” says Achee. “There have been six who trespassed before and they have all been caught.” When asked how he knew only six had trespassed before, Achee’s answer came quick: “Security cameras. The property is covered with high definition security cameras. A camera mounted on the [main building] can capture the license plate of a car all the way on the other side of the property.” The security camera system video is stored to a source that is backed up offsite. Additionally, the system has a back-up power supply that allows it to continue operating in the event of a power failure.

Achee and his crew of security officers are authorized to detain any trespassers by force until local law enforcement arrives to complete the felony arrest. We asked him if he planned on seeing any young teenage girls arrested, Achee said, “Absolutely. I think of this place as a home. You wouldn’t want somebody trespassing in your home, and if you did, you’d defend yourself. That’s what we’re doing here, it doesn’t matter who it is.”

In closing, when we asked how confident he was that there would be no issues for the productions under his care at Raleigh Studios, Achee’s answer was clear. ”I used to run security for Elvis,” he says. “I’m confident.”

‘Breaking Dawn’ Behind the Scene Photos Filming in Isle Esme

Brazilian TV show Panico sneaked in Isle Esme of Breaking Dawn Location and took some photos

The Brazilian TV show Panico aired footage secretly taken from inside the house used for Isle Esme (pictured above) just moments before Rob and Kristen filmed some indoor scenes for Breaking Dawn. Apparently, a member of the show crashed the set, posed as a member of the crew, hid a camera somewhere inside his clothes, and shot Rob and Kristen getting ready to film.
We really want to avoid getting in trouble, so we’re not posting the video on our site, however, the president of Rio Filme took to his twitter account @ssl_riofilme to talk about the situation as soon as fans started tweeting their concerns over the safety of the cast. Here are the translated tweets:
The alleged invasion of TV Show Panico did not disrupt the filming of Breaking Dawn. It happened when there were many people at the house. Nobody knew.
Once and for all … The issues with the residents of Lapa were resolved in minutes. They were warned in advance. Alright?
There are parasites who do not realize the importance of attracting major foreign productions to Rio, and would prefer the government to invest in films that one sees, that don’t generate financial or cultural returns, and that are barely able to sustain them. They use the media to undermine Rio and the audiovisual productions in Rio that work hard to attract investment, create jobs and make films that are relevant!
People … When they entered the house, the filming was going on elsewhere. The other images were taken by boat and helicopter.
The entry into the house did not ruin the shot. The helicopter did, because of the noise. But it was fast. No problem. No one cared.
So … No cause for concern. And I did not use the term “parasites” for these guys. Everyone was happy with Breaking Dawn.
So there you have it. To be fair, the TV Show Panico is famous for crashing into private events and sets, by going completely unnoticed and filming everything they can with hidden cameras. According to several Brazilian fans on Twitter, Panico has crashed into concerts, the Academy Awards and even Michael Jackson’s funeral, so the set of Breaking Dawn didn’t stand a chance against people who are experts in breaking in. They didn’t bother the cast members or disrupt the filming, they just basically like to troll closed and exclusive sets and places for their show.*

Jackson Rathbone Admits about Breaking Dawn “I’m excited but also sad because we’re nearing the end."

“I’m excited, but also sad because we’re nearing the end,” the 25-year-old star, who plays hunky vamp Jasper Hale, says in the upcoming issue of Zooey magazine. “It’s been an incredible experience working with such a fine cast and crew over the years, and it’s going to be hard to say goodbye.”

Jackson will have extra time during the shoot in Baton Rouge, Louis. because his character is MIA for much of Breaking Dawn, but he’s already packed his schedule with extracurriculars.

“I’ll be working with my band 100 Monkeys and playing shows around the South as well as setting up other productions for the future of my new company PatchMo Entertainment,” he says of his upcoming plans. “Also, I’m setting up a record label.”

A laid back muti-talented performer, Jackson says he’s still wrapping his head around being a mega star.

“Now there are pictures of me as a blonde vampire on T-shirts and pillowcases…that took a little getting used to,” he admits. Well, it still takes us some getting used to when we see you without your Twilight ensemble of the makeup and blonde wig. We almost forgot how gorgeous you are, Jackson!

RioFilme gives US$500,000 to Summit Entertainment Production for Postcard Shots of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

RioFilme is investing US$500,000 on the production of Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, currently being filmed in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

RioFilme's $500k, in fact, were an added incentive for Summit to shoot several Breaking Dawn segments in Brazil. Director Bill Condon, producer Wyck Godfrey, producer-writer Stephenie Meyer, and stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have all traveled to Brazil for a ten-day (or so) shoot.

The money will be spent on two scenes of indeterminate length featuring "postcard images" of Rio de Janeiro.

According to RioFilme director-president Sérgio Sá Leitão, production of Breaking Dawn in Rio will generate US$3m in revenues to the state (minus the US$500k?), in addition to the creation of 500 jobs — including one for Brazilian model Raphael Martins, Robert Pattinson's stand-in.

RioFilme will have at its disposal US$3m per year to invest on such international projects. Leitão ads that RioFilme "will only invest in movies that show Rio in a very favorable light."

In Breaking Dawn, a tropical islet off the coast of Rio — Isle Esme — is the setting of Pattinson's vampire Edward Cullen and Stewart's human Bella Swan Cullen's honeymoon. That's when Bella discovers she's pregnant, a situation that leads to all sorts of trouble once the Cullens return to Washington State

Breaking Dawn Location Details to be Filmed in Brazil

The first and most bombastic is that Stephenie Meyer should come to Brazil, along with Rob and Kristen, to accompany the footage. Yes, she, the author, the creator of everything, must step in Brazilian soil as a producer on the film. YAY!

The second is that the information coming from Taylor, with 99.9% certainty, it is pure speculation, and Mackenzie Foy. Just Rob and Kristen, and Sebastião Lemos and Virgüez Carolina should participate as actors of the recordings on national soil, which makes more sense.

Information from other sources realize that the equipment will be rented from filming in Sao Paulo and transported to the River is estimated that only with the rental of equipment will be spending approximately one million dollars. Helicopters were reserved for aerial filming and three different islands were surveyed for the filming.

Regarding LAPA as location, the information that we obtained, it is possibly one of the two potagonistas scene in a taxi on arrival at RJ because they need a busy place, with many people and strong illumination.

Paraty is even the HQ team and cast, which can be divided into two hostels to luxury. It can happen to wear one of the hostels as a location for scenes in the house of the Isle Esme. A security firm was hired to err ... give full security to the crew and actors during the entire stay and armored cars have already been reserved.

Kaure, the maid of the Isle Esme and the first person to realize that Bella was pregnant, must be interpreted by Carolina Virgüez, Colombian naturalized Brazilian actress with several awards and nominations as best actress in several plays nationals.

There will be 4 and half days of filming.

Some people on the team must arrive before the actors to 'prepare the ground "and meet with service providers. On 3 / 11 there will probably be a meeting between these people so that each of the functions being transferred.

A Portuguese teacher should make the team.

About accommodation: The Globe reported recently that should stay at the Copacabana Palace, which hosts almost all the artists who go to Rio, as was the case of U2 and the Rolling Stones, but this hotel is very far - about 3 hours Car - the filming locations, however, helicopters are used for locomotion, in less than 30 minutes to arrive locations and this would confirm that the lodges would be used as a backdrop for the island home of Esme and interior scenes.

Nikki Reed says Breaking Dawn movie stay true to the books

“I’m really happy, really excited, I think the key to the success of the scripts are to stay true to the books. That’s the origin and what people love, it existed before we did, obviously it can’t be verbatim with a 800 page book, but they are making two movies out of it. I think that the essential moments are there!”

As for Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) highly anticipated birth scene, Nikki said, “I’m sure Bill [Condon] has some really creative idea as to what he is going to do. There is a lot of pressure with those scenes because they are so highly anticipated, the giving birth scene or whatever you want to call it. I’m hoping and assuming its going to be edgy, I’m sure it will!”

Kristen Stewart talks about her diet and fitting Pregnancy costume for Breaking Dawn

“I want a cheeseburger so badly, but, you know, I have to be a vampire in a few weeks,” the 20-year-old actress told the LA Times‘ Amy Kaufman at lunch in Los Angeles, before choosing to munch on a veggie burger.

Although she’s toning up for her role as Bella, her character spends much of Breaking Dawn pregnant with her first child — and Kristen said her fake belly is totally uncomfortable.

“I’ve worn it. It’s … crazy. I’ve done fittings,” she said. “It gets immense. It gets so massive at some point that it actually looks inhuman. Like it’s hurting her. There are striations of bruises.”

Twilight Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg Expands Breaking Dawn Story and characters that Stephanie introduces.

Fans of the “Twilight” films are going to have a little added story to sink their teeth into.

The previous movie adaptations of Stephanie Meyer’s vamp-lit juggernaut have gone pretty much by the book, but with the final novel “Breaking Dawn” being broken into two feature films, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg tells PopcornBiz she’s enjoying a little more leeway to add some fangy flourishes of her own.

“I did actually [get to do that], because we got to fill out the story because we're doing the next two movies,” said Rosenberg. “So there was room to play and expand on some of the characters that Stephanie introduces. That was a lot of fun.”

“It's a much more grownup movie – It's an adult story,” the writer said of evolving the franchise beyond its high school origins. “The stakes are raised even higher because it's not the story of teens. It's the stories of grownups, so we're talking about marriage and children and family – and these are pretty grownup things, but sexy.”

Rosenberg says the highlight of the story will be seeing Kristen Stewart’s character Bella become a vampire at long last. “Kristen gets to make the transformation and that is going to be so exciting to see. [Director] Bill [Condon] and I talked about it in developing this script and the screenplay. Now she's going to embody it. It's going to be so great.”

Rosenberg, who penned all of the “Twilight” films and previously wrote for Showtime’s “Dexter,” hasn’t quite adjusted to the fact that, minus a few rewrites, her bloody good run is coming to a close.

“It's a shocking experience after four years to not be writing ‘Twilight!’” she said.
